Is economic patriotism needed?

As a large wave of takeovers has gained all of Europe, it awoke the old demons of protectionism in the form of economic patriotism. It is a matter of reinforcing the regulation or to see takeovers forbidden in order to preserve the nationality of companies and employment.

The false virtues of energy independence

This is one of the most usual justifications of "economic patriotism" in the energy field. It was recently used to support the French government’s decision to merge GDF and Suez, blocking a possible takeover by the Italian Enel on the latter.

The anti-tobacco campaign and its contradictions
